By the end of the night, Kame is sitting next to two completely gutted filing cabinets, three bags of trash (why Yoko insists on keeping triplicate of only things he doesn't need it for, Kame will never understand), and a line of stacks of papers sorted by case, record, date of filing, and where the other copies went to.

Kame is, for all intents and purposes, exhausted.

He stares at the papers for a long time lost in his own thoughts before movement startles him back into reality- it's just Yoko, handing him another steaming cup of coffee. Kame notes that Yoko hasn't bothered to give Kame the coffee in one of his decorative mugs that are sitting all over the office on various pieces of furniture; maybe Yoko has forgotten they are there, along with most of the other things he needs to remember instead.

"Well, we've made good progress," Yoko says cheerfully.

"Who's we?" Kame grumbles. "You spent thirty minutes trying to find a good satellite radio station that wasn't playing that new girl group you hate."

Still, the coffee is good- Yoko must have gone to the officer's break room to get the good stuff- and the company was better. Kame can think of worse ways to spend a night, most of which have to do with his fellow squadmembers.

"I just think they are very overplayed," Yoko tells him. "That song has no beat at all."

"I'm not sure you'll get done before your boss comes down," Kame says, because they haven't even touched the other two cabinets.

"About that," Yoko says, and sets the paperweight he'd been holding down gently on the desk surface. "I got an email around 5 that said she was going to have to postpone due to the drug runner cartel that fell into her home district's lap."

Kame's pretty sure he's developing a twitch in his eye he should probably get looked at. "And you couldn't bother to tell me this?"

"Well, you looked really in the zone," Yoko says, eyes wide. "I mean, you were really going at those papers, you know? I didn't want to interrupt you."

Kame just glares at him for a long moment.

"If I kill you in here, it'll be days before anyone finds the body," he says.

"They know I sleep here sometimes," Yoko sighs. "I think the janitor checks nightly."
